Streamlined payments, some setup quirks

I decided to try Ruul for cross-border payments with a new international client. The initial onboarding process was mostly smooth, but finding the exact section for setting up recurring billing took a little digging. Once everything was in place, the automated invoicing worked perfectly. My client received their invoices on schedule, and I appreciated the multi-currency wallet feature, which made handling different currencies simpler. I also utilized one of their contractor agreement templates, which saved me some time. The support team was responsive when I had a question about tax collection details, getting back to me within a few hours. The withdrawal process to my local bank was efficient after the initial wait. It's a solid tool, but they could make the initial setup flow a bit more intuitive for first-timers.

Easy way to get paid

Used Ruul for the first time to get paid by a client overseas. It was super easy to send them a payment link. The money showed up in my Ruul wallet pretty quick, and then I transferred it to my bank. No big fuss. Happy with how it worked out.

Good for invoicing, slow payments

I used Ruul for global invoicing for a project last month. The platform was pretty straightforward to set up, and creating the invoice was easy. My client paid promptly, but it took 5 business days for the money to hit my bank account, which felt a bit long. Overall decent value, but payment speed could improve.

Does anyone know if Ruul offers any kind of discount for new users, like for your first invoice or something when you sign up?

J Josh Romero 1 month ago
Yeah, I got a credit when I joined up, think it was like $20 off my first payment processing fee.

My friend invited me and we both got a referral bonus. So definitely look for an invite code before signing up!

I'm currently using Wise for my international payments. Is Ruul better or worse than Wise, especially for freelancers?

A Anna 1 week ago
Ruul is more for the whole freelancing package - invoicing, contracts, taxes. Wise is just transfers. So depends what you need.

I'd say Ruul is better if you need compliance and contracts, Wise if you just need to move money around.

Wondering about the service fees. Are they super high, or pretty reasonable compared to other platforms?

P Priya V. 1 month ago
They're competitive, not the cheapest but definitely not the most expensive. Depends on what you're doing, but I haven't had sticker shock.

I think their fees are usually around 10-20% off if you get a referral or something. So yeah, pretty decent.

How quick are payouts usually? Like, once a client pays, how long till I see it in my bank account?

L Lisa 2 weeks ago
Depends on the payment method, but I've had funds hit my account in a couple of business days with local bank transfers.

Faster than some others I've used, like a few days. Not instant, but not weeks either.

Anyone tried getting paid in crypto through Ruul? Is it actually easy or more of a hassle?

S Shane 1 week ago
I get paid in Bitcoin sometimes, it's pretty straightforward. They even had a bonus for it at one point.

Yeah, it works. Not super complex, just link your crypto wallet up.

Hey, I'm thinking about switching to Ruul for my invoices. Are they actually good for handling VAT stuff, especially with international clients?

M Mia Ito 1 month ago
Yeah, they totally do VAT. I've got clients in different countries and it's been pretty smooth sailing for me.

I use it for my EU clients, and it handles the VAT automatically. No extra headaches there, which is nice.

Is Ruul legit for freelancers in the US? Like, is it compliant with US tax laws and everything?

M Mark 3 weeks ago
Yep, they handle tax collection and reporting tools. I haven't had any issues with it for my US-based clients.

I think they're pretty good with local laws. I haven't run into any problems with my taxes since switching.
